Frequently Asked Questions
As much as we rent it out on short term basis, we as a family (with two toddlers) use the property regularly. Hence we take cleanliness very seriously, and our house cleaner treats every turnover with utmost care and detail. Our hot tub also uses less chemicals and uses Ozone technology to keep the water clean. We thoroughly clean the hot tub between each guests and we request all our guests to shower/rinse off to remove dirt and lotions in the water before they enter the tub.
We use Google Fi (Powered by T-Mobile) and the connectivity is pretty decent. Verizon also seems to work in the area but AT&T rarely works. Our WIFI is around 10-20 MBPS and since this is a rural yet heavily trafficked tourist community, the internet can be flaky.
We considered installing high speed internet and since there are too many trees in and around the property for satellite internet to work, we were advised to cut down at least 8-10 trees and we could not in clear conscious make that decision. We encourage you to unwind by using board games, TV, and hot tub. If high speed internet connectivity is a must have, we regret to say that our property is not best suited for you.
Additionally, due to the nature of our mountain location, our home may lose power during weather events. Outages typically last for 2-3 hours when this occurs. Flashlights and extra blankets are provided for these occurrences. When power is out, you can still cook as our stoves are powered by propane tank.
We allow up to 2 small dogs or 1 large dog in our property at $50 additional pet fee per night for a max of $100 during your stay. If you are staying more than 2 days, the pet fee is capped at $100. The additional fee is to ensure the property is thoroughly cleaned at every turnover and this fees goes to our cleaners.
Here are some additional rules to ensure the property is clean
1. Dogs are not allowed on furniture or bed
2. Pickup and dispose of all pet waste
3.Please do not leave your pet unattended.
We have two toddlers (5 year and 2 year old) and we feel the property is kid friendly for the most part. Having said that, here are few things to note:
The property is NOT baby proofed.
It is NOT safe for kids to use hot tubs.
Kids are NOT to be left unattended at any time - Remember that you are living in the wilderness and wild animals do roam around. For more info: https://www.nps.gov/mora/learn/nature/animals.htm
Ashford in general is very safe. However, since it is a tourist community, we do want all of our guests to feel safe. Hence we do have a few outdoor cameras on the property. The exact location of the cameras will be given to you after you book the property.
We do NOT have any cameras inside the property.
Our property is located in Ashford which is a rural forest area. According to NPS, at Mount Rainier you can find 65 mammal species, 14 species of amphibians, 5 species of reptiles, 182 species of birds, and 14 species of native fish as well as all kinds of bugs. Invertebrates probably represent 85% of the animal biomass in the park. Hence it is possible but not likely to see some of these animals around the property. As per AirBnb policy, we are required to notify our guests of the possibility that one might encounter these wild (and dangerous) animals during their stay
